FAQ's
Gallery open April 3rd- May 3rd

How to hang:
All submitted artwork MUST have a wire hanging on the back in order to be displayed at the Egyptian Theater
01
Finish the painting
We kindly recommend that paintings be finished and completely dried before attempting to secure the backing. Whether your artwork is framed or not the wire backing is crucial to being able to hang your works. If a work does not have wire, it will not be shown.
03
Wire: check out this video
Prepare the Painting: Lay it face down on a flat surface.
Attach D-Rings/Hooks: Measure 1/3 down from the top and attach D-rings or screw eyes on each side.
Cut and Attach Wire: Cut a length of wire (1.5–2 times the width of the frame). Secure one end to a D-ring, pull it across to the other side, and secure it. The wire should not be as tight as a guitar string, it should have some slack.

02
Backing
Whether you are submitting a Gallery Canvas or a fully framed artwork you need to include the wire across the back. If you are working on a flat surface such as cardboard, paper, watercolor paper, or canvas panels, we recommend framing so that it maybe easier to include the wire.

FAQ's
Q: When will my work be shown?
We will be having our month-long gallery exhibition at the Egyptian Theater in downtown DeKalb starting on April 3rd and ending on May 3rd. Artists who are picked to show their work will receive instructions on details about when to bring art and when to pick it up.

Q: If I submit four artworks will all of them be shown?
Maybe! Our team of jurors will be hand-selecting all of the pieces that will be shown in the gallery. If four pieces are submitted then there is a greater chance of being shown, however, not all four pieces may be selected to be displayed in the gallery.

Q: Do I need to submit four pieces?
Absolutely not! Please submit what you are comfortable with submitting! Artists can submit as few as one piece and as many as four.

Q: Can I only submit paintings?
No, you can submit any artwork that can be hung flat on a wall surface. This includes but is not limited to pastels, drawings, watercolors, etc. but at this time we cannot show ceramics and/or jewelry safely in the month-long gallery.

Q: How will I get my art back?
All artists are responsible for picking up their artwork after the gallery closes. Any artwork left behind will be removed and artists will be contacted about collection or disposal.

Q: Can I set up a table/booth?
Yes, on the opening and closing events. Artists would need to provide their tables and displays for these instances but are welcome to sell additional work that is not being shown. This is when artists can show/sell other pieces such as ceramics and jewelry.

Q: Will I be able to sell my artwork?
Yes, absolutely! All artists are responsible for 100% of their transactions and get to keep 100% of their proceeds.

Q: Who will be selecting the artwork that will be shown?
The team that created DAS is a group of three artists from the Northern Illinois/DeKalb region. These folks are artists from very different backgrounds and VERY different art styles who hope to find a diverse selection of art to show!
